O’Donnell Bridge Over M-30 Refurbishment (Madrid, Spain)

Abstract

Within Calle 30 infrastructure maintenance plan the refurbishment of the bridge over M-30 for O’Donnell street (M-23), from 1970. The intervention involved abutments, piers and deck, where more deep structural retrofit was necessary, highlighting the upgrade of the barriers, for which a H4b level of protection is required as per the new regulation applicable. Taking into account criteria such as dynamic deflection and working width, a steel barrier anchored chemically to the deck was selected, deck that was previously reinforced with a system of CFRP laminates.
