Abstract

This paper describes a cast in place slab deck bridge of 17,30 m width, designed with supports of only one shaft by pier. This bridge pretends to be an example to those cast in place slab decks supported on two, three or more shafts by pier. This sort of piers is more adequate for beam deck bridges than for slab deck bridges. Afterwards this report relates the special design items that this support scheme implies, when dimensions are taken near the limits. Particular attention is paid to: Deck torsion moments strength from the centre span to the abutments. Deck transverse flexion strength over piers. And transverse distribution of the longitudinal flexion.
