Abstract

The Paseo de la República Express Way, built at the end of the 60’s with a depressed highway section, is currently used by vehicles and a BRT bus service, forming an urban barrier between several districts of Lima city. The Metropolitan Municipality has wished to improve the permeability between the districts of Miraflores and Surquillo by means of two new bridges with noticeable urban design, for which two tied-arch bridges have been designed. Junín Bridge has a 55.5 m span and the deck is suspended by bars, whereas Leoncio Prado Bridge has a 42.8 m span and the deck is suspended by rigid steel posts.
