Abstract

In order to further check the model of seismic vulnerability assessment of existing bridges, the procedure was applied to the 13 bridges for which damage reports were available. This included bridges damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The chosen bridges are structures well documented before and after the earthquake, among them, there are concrete bridges and mixed bridges. Some suffered damages that brought them up to collapse and other experienced only small damages. The necessary data for calibration required a good documentation of the structural characteristics of the bridges, damage registration, soil response and ?in situ? seismic intensity.
