Abstract

This paper gives the results of tests carried out on ribbed steel plate and concrete floors with regards to their deflection under loading. The results of the laboratory tests are first compared with the more commonly used equations and then with the results obtained from in situ load tests on floor slabs of the same characteristics. One may reach the conclusion that while the average of in situ deformations were of comparatively little importance with regards to the maximum admisible deflections, the deflections foreseen when using the analytical equation reccommended by the eurocode 4, noticeably differed from those measured on site, and this previsions rest on the side of insecurity.
